Pettah ( The Old Capital of Colombo)

Image
Pettah is supposed to be the old quarter of the capital of  SRI LANKA although Colombo is much widely known officially  and is the present administrative center  of SRI LANKA. On any working day  from Monday to Friday walking along the narrow streets  with hundreds of people jostling against each other traders pushing their small wooden carts and  the colorful textile shops in addition to the wide array of Saree's on display  the blaring of music from nearby shops in addition to the zig zagging  of tuk tuks  make you stand still.   This is   SRI  LANKA at its best  a completely different world. A kilometer away is the modern part  of SRI LANKA the high rise buildings sky scrapers   shopping malls quite a contrast to the old quarter. Personal Travel Experience & Tips by JALLY

Most blogs  and writers are foreign visitors quoting personal experiences in a particular country and SRI LANKA is no exception. Their input is LIMITED TO ONE OR TWO WEEKS ,  Being a native plus a professional guide for 23 years it just crossed my mind to relate my travel experience with foreign visitors since I practically travel every week to every part of SRI LANKA  on hindsight 90% of my client's are European Australians and a few Americans fall into this category  ( The Trip Advisor is one forum which bear's testimony to this fact ). Most Travel agent's (Foreign and Local) basically stick to the same route and program. SRI LANKA is a hidden gem and there are so many unexplored place's still to be visited but not on the travel books or forum's, and as I mentioned before I would be more than glad to address your concerns regarding any travel queries ,programing ,hotel bookings ,tour packages etc (CONT)
